Hello everyone,
I wish a speedy recovery to Steve and nice to hear from you Cathy.   John the radio is on 1070, was that your station?  We have some goof ball on there now who does the SWAP SHOP way to fast.
Take Care, Patty

Hi Patty, I use to do the news on Sarnia's CKJD which I recall was 1010 on your am dial.  It may not even exist or have moved to a different location on the dial as that was over 20 years ago.  Hope everything is great your way.   I remember doing  Trading Post (the Miramichi version of SWAP SHOP) on CFAN in Newcastle.  This guy use to call in every morning to say he had roosters for sale (only on the Miramichi).  I suggested on air one morning he give them names to make them more attractive to the public.  Sure enough, next morning he called to say "I have Frank, Joe and Ben, three roosters for sale!".

It was quite hilarious.  He eventually would call and say he had only Frank for sale and I offered to buy Frank when I was on the air.  He called later when I was off air to say someone was there to buy him and I told him to go ahead and sell him.  I then got lots of rooster sound effects (the listeners all thought I had made the purchase) and the next morning on air I said,"Good Morning Frank!" and this rooster crow filled the air.  Frank and I became quite a hit on CFAN and to this day when I am passing through the Co-op I sometimes hear, "HEY John, how's that rooster doin?!" :-)

There was another time I was on air doing Trading Post and a mischievous friend called in to say he had a new T.V. for sale along with many other items and then announced everything was available for $1 however he gave my phone number as the number to call.  The phone calls at the house were non-stop for hours.  Grandmother offered to help field the calls to help break the news the offer was too good to be true.  I remember my mother set the phone up for her by her rocking chair and Lillian had a great time talking to lots of people. John

John, you just livened up this Gill Net with all that news.  Great stuff.  I think that station is gone.

Hi:
Mark and Jennifer's twin boys were born this morning.  They are Matthew and Patrick.  They were 6 weeks early.  Patrick is breathing on his own.  Mom and Dad will probably be on-line later to fill in the details.  JoAnn

Great news about the babies!  As Grandmater would say, 2 little souls!  Let's say a few prayers for the little ones.  I believe they weigh 3 pounds and 3 1/2 pounds -- quite small by Kingston standards. Congratulations Jennifer & Mark.

Happy Easter to all,

I am having about 15 people for dinner-friends, John and his family, my son Sam and his wife Kathy.  It will be a great feast with interesting conversation and lots of laughs.

Enjoy,

Hi everyone,

Hope you had a great Easter.  I am in the St. Mary's choir so I was in church most of the weekend.  It was a great experience albeit quite tiring.

I took Mom to the Moncton airport yesterday.  She should be in Thunder Bay this morning helping out with all of the M. Kingston side of the family.  The babies are still in the hospital, so Mom will probably be there for a while.  I am pushing Dad to get some renovations done while she is away.  I wonder if any of those TLC programs would come to Miramichi!  All the best, ME

Hi Everyone,

Every now and then, I take a browse by the Gill Net Lodge to catch up on everyone's news, or hear an entertaining story.  And, since Erin and I are in the middle of Finals here at Mount A, I figured I'd procrastinate a little by posting a note.

Well, Uncle John, I'm sure you're happy to hear that according to news from home, the Ice is out of the Nor' West.  The beginning of another wonderful summer, full of Camp memories is ready and waiting. (Unfortunately, there will be a part of the whole Camp experience missing this year, as beloved family friend Margorie MacNaughton has passed away.)

I'm glad to hear that the newest editions to the Kingston family are doing well.  Lots of prayers to the both of them.

Uncle John, do you ever run out of stories? Your CFAN stories you posted, gave us a great laugh.  Thanks for lightening the serious mood of Finals.

Only a couple more days left for Erin and I.  We've had a great first year away from home, but we're quite ready to go back and get a little spoiled from parents and grandparents.  It's strange though, it snowed yesterday, yet our summer vacation starts in 3 days.
I hope all is well in everyone's lives these days.  And I look forward to running into some of you, over the summer.

Laura

The ice went out of the Bay last night.  The lobster fishers are quite excited as the season opens next weekend.  We are excited about getting the cottage open and getting the trailer down for early season camping.

Sure wish I was flyfishing on the Miramichi this week - it can be lots of fun pulling in black salmon and then tossing them back!  Even a wet day on the river can be a great day...Nice to say hi Laura and I am envious of your assignment Mary Ellen...John

We just wanted to send an update on Matthew and Patrick.  They are both doing well and are now both in cribs.  If all goes well tonight Matthew will be off his monitors tomorrow.  Matthew weighs 1995 grams and Patrick weighs 2265 grams.  Grandma has been a tremendous help with the two boys at home.

John, I laughed when I heard your Trading Post story. I went to school with the caller, Peter O'Neill.  I remember at the time it was like a soap opera that the "bantam roosters" were all going to be adopted.  Life in a small town...

Mark
